Our Fabrics

Every fabric in the Sweet Violet collection is chosen for how it moves, how it lasts, and how it feels on the body over years of wear. Below is a plain-language guide to each one — what it is, why we chose it, and where to go if you want to understand it in greater depth.

Mercerized Combed Cotton Sateen
Solid Colors
What It Is Cotton that has been combed — a process that removes short, unruly fibers and aligns the rest in parallel — then mercerized, meaning it is treated under tension to permanently develop a silkier hand and subtle luster. The yarn is then woven in a sateen structure, where long threads float across the surface to create a smooth, gently luminous face.
Why We Chose It Combing and mercerization are quality steps that most manufacturers skip because they add cost. Together, they produce a cotton that will not pill, holds color with exceptional depth, and has a refined hand that reads as genuinely elevated — not simply practical. It is the difference between cotton that looks like cotton and cotton that makes you look twice.

100% Organic Cotton Sateen
Custom Prints
What It Is Certified organic cotton — grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers — woven in a sateen structure for a smooth, slightly lustrous surface. The sateen weave gives the fabric a softness and sheen that standard plainweave cotton cannot achieve, and provides an ideal ground for printed designs.
Why We Chose It Organic certification matters to us as much as fabric quality — the two are not mutually exclusive. The sateen weave gives our prints a depth and clarity that a matte cotton simply cannot offer: colors appear richer, detail reads more crisply, and the fabric itself feels like something worth keeping. It washes beautifully and softens further with every wear.

Rayon
Across the Collection
What It Is A regenerated cellulose fiber known for its exceptionally fluid drape, cool feel against the skin, and a subtle semi-matte luster. Made from plant-based wood pulp, rayon moves with the body in a way that few fabrics can match — often described as the most silk-like of the accessible fibers.
Why We Chose It For pieces that should feel effortless in motion, rayon is our first choice. It skims rather than clings, keeps cool in warmer temperatures, and produces the kind of easy, unfussy drape that elevates a simple silhouette. It is the fabric equivalent of something that looks like it took no effort at all.

Wool Blend
Skirts & Dresses
What It Is A refined wool blend engineered for structure, warmth, and movement. Rayon is incorporated into the blend to give the fabric a notably smooth hand and fluid drape — qualities that a pure wool of this weight would not naturally possess. The result holds a silhouette beautifully while moving with the body rather than against it.
Why We Chose It Wool is the only fiber that insulates, breathes, and resists wrinkles simultaneously — making it the natural choice for pieces designed to be worn, lived in, and returned to season after season. The addition of rayon softens the hand considerably and introduces a drape that makes this blend particularly flattering in skirt and dress silhouettes. Currently used across our skirt range, with dresses to follow.
