This vintage inspired black dress is made with luxurious black velvet, channeling the glamour of the 1930s and 40s.
It could be worn as a comfortable day dress, but would also be perfect as an evening dress for a black tie event or cocktail party.
This dress is designed and made to order by me - Kate - in my in-home studio. It is constructed with my decades of sewing experience to the highest standard of craftsmanship.
I take a great deal of care in selecting fabrics, and this velvet was one of the few that I found that had a truly silky-smooth texture with a high quality feeling of thickness.
It is fully lined with soft silk-like lining fabric. The combination of the velvet and the silky lining really has to be felt to be believed - it is so soft! It has a fair amount of coverage and weight to it and it will definitely keep you warm on those chilly days and in air conditioned rooms.
The neckline is decorated with delicately pleated organza, trimmed with black lace and finished off with black velvet ribbon.
The dress was made in a midi length and measures 46" from the top of the shoulder to hem. The model in the photo is 5'6".
The sizing was a little loose for my model, so if you select your true size it will be slightly more fitted than on in the photos, unless you want to go up a size.
