Hello! I’m Kate, designer and seamstress of Sweet Violet. I design
and make small batch collections of romantic, feminine and vintage inspired pieces
with the aim of bringing delight, beauty and joy into your wardrobe and your life.
Real Slow Fashion
As a solopreneur, I limit my production to 4-8 pieces per month, based on complexity. This way, you can be assured that every garment is handcrafted by myself in my Richmond, VA studio to the highest levels of quality. If those slots are sold out each month you will have an option to join the waitlist.
The Fabrics
The fabrics I use are chosen extremely carefully. My focus is always on quality as well as comfort. I am always searching for the softest, most luxurious fabrics that drape perfectly for any given garment. All pieces are fully lined with the softest and smoothest lining I can find.
I love collaborating with other designers and artists to provide you with a curated selection of hand illustrated custom prints. When you choose your print, it will be ordered and printed on your choice of fabric by a US-based company and made into your special garment.
Customization
As each garment is made-to-order, I am able to offer a greater range of customization than mass-produced fashion.
Right now, the collection offers a range of classic skirt styles, which can all be fully customized in length. The size chart also offers 1" size differences between sizes which offers an expanded range over standard sizing. The current sizing runs from 0-18, and I am aiming to add additional plus sizes as well as specially-designed petite sizing.

Additional options such as pencil, A-line, wrap, gathered, pleated, and slip skirts are coming soon, along with customizable dresses.

Next, you will be prompted to choose the length that suits you best—whether that’s maxi, midi, knee length or mini (available lengths depend on style).
You can also enter your exact desired length for a truly tailored fit —perfect for petite and tall sizing, or anyone looking for something that falls just right.

The next step is to choose a fabric for your garment.
Our fabrics are carefully selected for their quality and comfort — with a focus on natural fibers like silk, cotton, rayon and wool.
Choose Your Color or Print
Once you’ve selected your style and fabric, you’ll be able to choose from a curated selection of prints and colors.
Select from a range of solid colors or choose a unique print that is custom-printed onto your fabric and used to construct your garment. Many of our prints are hand-drawn by independent artists.

It's a nice thick wool fabric that will keep me warm in my cold climate. I ordered a size 2, length 38”. It is a little snug but I wanted it to fit that way. For reference I'm 5'2” 115 lbs. I would order the skirt again... oh wait, this is my second time ordering. The first one was for my mom 🥰

It fits perfectly, and the cut along with the fabric drapes elegantly. The navy wool is a wool suiting type fabric that can be worn nearly all year and goes with everything in my closet.
